Spring Pad Question and What Wing is this?

Hey guys -

I was wondering if any of you know the correct part number for Spring pads #1? This is what I got from benzworld:

210 321 0184 5mm

Correct?

Also, what kind of Wing is this? I believe is MH-Dezent, but I cannot find it on the web Thanks!

I think since it's for CLK, the first three number should be 208 instead of 210.

no, not really...

there is no 1 Dot spring pad for the CLK, so yes, you would use a W210 pad. As long as that is a 1 dot pad, it will work perfectly fine.

I can dig up my receipt to check the part number when I get back home if you are interested, but yes, it is a part that starts with # 210....

oh yeah, and in terms of that spoiler, yea, it is a MH-Dezent/Expression spoiler... and the center piece is supposedly a Carbon Fibre piece...

There was a previous discussion on the forum about the spoiler, and I think the outcome was that the spoiler wasn't really produced for resale (or no longer produced).

search the forum for more exact results...

CLK320 stock setup 3/3

But these numbers (including 430/55) vary at times.

There's no 1-dot spring pad for the CLK? You're using one, aren't you? So I think there is one.

CLK spring pads start with W210, because that's what the CLK uses (and the 1997+ W202).

That's definitely NOT how it works. If you go through the parts on the CLK, you'll see that the numbers start with LOTS of different prefixes.... 202... 210... 201... 124... 140... 129... 112 or 113 engine parts... maybe even some 203 or 209 parts (believe it or not... check the ABS or ESP units on a 2002 CLK). Then there are the 001, 003, 033, 016 parts. And more!

Used to be a CLK430
So a dumb question, to lower the car, I should buy the 5mm ones, right?? Will my ride suffer?

well, you know what i mean...

if you go to the part department and ask for a 1 dot pad for a CLK, they will say, smallest they have is a 2 dot.

but, these pads are interchangable between various chassis, you can use the one that is techinically assigned to the E-class.

Nick, your 430 comes with 4 dot front, 3 dot rear (most likely), so anything less will lower your car. the thinner the pad, the lower it will be...

ride will be a little harsher, but not by a whole lot... i'm on 1 dot pads, and i still have all my teeth...

I think I have #1 spring pads all around on mine. Is this the proper setup? Should I have #2 front and #1 rear?

if you want to follow the factory settings, then you should have the fronts as 1 dot higher than the rears...

but, i don't think there would be any adverse effect of having #1 pads all around...

That's not true. There is a formula used (it's in the EPC) that lists all the options available on the car. To find which pads and which springs were fitted to each car, each option code is assigned a "point value". If you take all the point values for each option installed in a given car, this total value is compared with a chart which lists which spring and which spring shim (called "pads" here) is used.

My CLK came from the factory with #2 all around. Not "front 1 dot higher than the rear".

no argument there... i know some CLK have been shipped with diff spring pad sizes, but I was just saying, typically, the majority seems to be getting 4/3 as a standard setup because the majority of CLKs are sold with relatively the same list of options.

I wonder what kind of added options would warrant different pad sizes?

Pretty much... nearly all of them! I can print the list out if you're interested. But Bose adds a few points... xenons add a few points...phone system adds a few points... and so on.

very interesting... each of those options don't weight much in itself, but i guess added together, it can weight a few extra pounds...

no need for the list, but thanks for the offer.

how come you don't want to go to the dealer? Its only $6.xx each at the dealer... aftermarket places will charge you about the same amount....

Does having dot 1 pads all around makes the car sit lower in front, higher in the rear?

depends on how you change the pads.. if you have 1 dot in the front, and 5 dot in the rear, then yes, it will be higher in the rear
