I have a 2002 CLK 430 and the cruise shuts off after a few miles and won't turn back on unless I restart the car. It has stock wheels and tires which I have heard might cause this. Any help would be appreciated before I pay a mechanic big bucks to start experimenting with new parts.

My first thought were tires, as the larger sizes can alter the set up and the system get confused. However if it stops after a few miles, do you notice if at this time the ABS / ETS lights on your dash come on? A faulty brake switch can cause this error, and I noticed that when I had this issue my cruise stopped working.

 

No I don't notice any dash lights, it just shuts off. Sometimes after a mile, sometimes it will go 20 miles. Thanks

 

I got new tires, same size but am experiencing CC issues. Is there a "quick fix" or an "even a dummy can do it" fix?
