Radiator Fan
Hello all,
I searched through the treads but could not find instructions on removing the radiator fan on a 2002 CLK55 not sure if it differs from other models but I would think not. I purchased a 36mm fan removal tool set from Ebay which comes with a 36mm wrench and a tool with 3 holes to hold the fan in place via the fan bolts but the problem Im having is that I cant get the 2 tools to fit at the same time where the base of the fan (the round part where the blades join the base) seems to have a lip that gets in the way of both of the tools fitting at the same time but either one fits one at a time with no problem. Im trying to replace my fan belt tension-er where I have hit a snag. Any thoughts? Is there a how to someone can direct me to? I have attached a pic of the tool set I purchased.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

if you are just looking to just remove the fan and not the clutch you dont need those tools. there are 3 small screws on the fan that can easily be taking out. to remove the fan clutch with those tools, you can just you one tool from the top of engine and the other one from bottom. this should give you all room you need.

Finally got around to doing it this morning. I replaced the belt tensioner which comes with the pulley and also the idler pulley. Its a good thing that I didnt wait any longer as the idler pulley was cracked in 4 different places, it was on its way OUT. I ended up doing the tensioner from the bottom of the car so I did not have to use the tools I had purchased. So Im good to go, new pulleys and belt.
Thanks everyone for the support. My next task is to replace the tranny oil, filter and gasket next weekend. Im hoping I can get away bu just raising the front of the car only I feel weird about being under the car with all 4 sides on jack stands.
Thanks,
Aaron
