Another fault.....
Reverse parked the car into the garage, took some shopping out of the boot and closed it. Almost reached the front of the car when I heard this almighty 'twang'!
Sounded like a spring so tried to remote open the boot (trunk) and found that it unlatched but didn't lift. My suspicions were right - after taking out the inside RH boot lining, the spring was dangling at the rearmost end of the spring attachment. The front attachment hook of the spring had snapped off ! Looking at it, it appears to be a clean fracture.

ouch... that doesn't sound good... but the good thing is at least it happened when the trunk was closed... those springs are wound and pulled so tight... if it was open, it may just have seriously injured someone...
