Unfortunately the extended warranty probably will not cover most of those problems

If you like the shape of the W208, why don't you trade your current one in for a later model? There are plenty around and there must be some very well cared for W208s out there. Just make sure to get the new one thoroughly inspected and then your problems are behind you.

W208 2001 CLK 320
CLK 320 Quality

I own a 2001 CLK 320 and have had one repair (total cost : $189) on the vehicle since purchase in 2007 (45k). The car currently has 94k miles on it and it runs sound. I have driven this vehicle up and down the CA coast in comfort and style. I would buy an extended warranty on yours, have an inspection done and fix any major problems that would jeopardize a good sale. If you like that year's model design as I do, you can trade up to a 2001 or 2002 W208. The appearance, mechanical performance/reliability, and mpg are not easily found in other sport coupes for the price. The only downside to the car is that you have to spend a little more on the fuel it requires but that is the cost of owning a Mercedes.
