CLK320 Speaker Upgrade
I'm replacing the speakers in my 99 CLK320 with the factory Bose audio soon. I already have an aftermarket Pioneer DEHX8600BH head unit installed but my concern is that I've read in several threads that the power coming from the factory Bose amp is at 2ohms and my new speakers are rated for 4ohms. Will I have to bypass the factory Bose amp to make it all work or will it be a simple swap in with the new speakers? The front speakers I went with are Hertz DSK 165.3 components and Polk DB651 coaxials for the rear deck. Any input helps, thanks!

Those speakers should work fine. Ohms is a measure of resistance the smaller the rating the less resistant. If an amp says it's 2 ohm stable than that means it is stable down to 2 ohms. It will make the amp run less efficient but shouldn't damage it. I would personally replace the factory amp. I replaced mine with a kicker 4 channel and added some tweeters and crossovers and haven't looked back. Hope this was helpful. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I will eventually add a 4ch amp for the door speakers and rear deck but I want to see how it'll all sound just being run off the pioneer head unit. I also have a 10" kicker comp cvr in a ported box run by a ZX300.1 amp so I think it will fill in the lower end of the sound spectrum nicely. Ill post an update on the build next week once its all set!
