PLEASE HELP

Good Morning Everyone, I am posting this because I am kind of at my wits end here with this car. I have found this form to be a great source of information but I am having a hard time deciphering the tons of information that is available. I have a 2001 CLK320 Convertible. I love this car and I am into my first year of ownership and I have hit a few snags with this car and I turn to the membership here for expert advice.

1) Back in the spring I was out with the car and I had the top down and I hit a large pothole in the road and heard a loud bang and the roll bars extended. I know this is a safety feature and I know that you should be able to reset this from the panel rocker switch. I have tried this and nothing has happened. I have read the thread about there being a way to manually drop the head rest and I have attempted this several times to the point of molesting the headrest looking for this "hole"....its like prom night all over again...I really cant find anyway of dropping this roll bar.

I took the car to a mechanic and he hooked it up to a computer and said that he can not access many of the cars control modules, basically everything from the windshield back wont talk to the mechanics computer, so he figures the root of my problem is electrical and not mechanical.

My biggest question is 1) can the head rests be lowered manually 2) where would I start when looking for the control modules and looking for loose wires ect and does anyone know where I can find the wiring schematics for this car. I have the Haynes schematics but they fail to show the wiring for power seats/heated seats and the soft top and roll bars.

Any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated.

I don't have a vert, so can't help you much, but the average mechanic computers won't manage the fancy MB computer systems. You should take it to the dealer, or a specialized MB mechanic that has the fancy STAR computer system for full diagnosis. This is typical of most luxury or euro vehicles, each manufacturer has very specific computer utilities and interfaces.
