Replace window regulator

Hello. I need to replace the window regulator on the driver's side door. I did a search but didn't find any information on how to change it. Most people had it replaced at the dealer, but unfortunately, I'm out of warranty.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

if you find out it is the same as replacing on in a W210 , let me know, cuz I just helped a friend do his on his w210 last week. It is pretty simple. All you need is a rivetor, a drill, some duct tape to hold the window up, and a torque or allan screw driver. And of course, a new regulator. You can salvage your motor if it is not bad.

Hi AL,

Yes, I believe the 208 and the 210 is similar (especially if it was the front windows on the 210).

Any information you can send me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

we replaced the regulator on the rear door of the w210. Had to remove door panel, drill out the 4 rivets that hold the bracket/motor/regulator to the door panel. removed and replaced the regulator and re-riveted the bracket back. I suggest you use a large rivet gun as I had difficulties with the $14.99 special at home depot. Drilling out the rivets was pretty much the most difficult thing to do. The rest was easy.

Thanks for the info. So after you removed the door panel and drilled out the rivets, you removed the bracket/motor/regulator through the opening near the bottom of the door? Did you just use duct tape to hold up the glass?

Thanks again,
J

Yup. That's exactly how we did it on the w210. Good luck.
