To people with window tints.

I have a question before I get my tint. Imade an appointment to get my windows tint 20%. Shop will be using "Solar Plex" tint film which contains metal particals. Do you guys think this film would F* with my remote locking and a rear window defroster? Sales person at the shop told me it may and it may not. Is this true???? My other alternative is to pay $260 and get a 3M tint films which doesn't contain metal particles? any ideas??? thanks.

It will not affect your remote locking and a rear window defroster.

there are only about 2 real problems you need to be worried about when tinting your windows....

1- getting a ticket if you illegally tint your front windows (certain states)
2- getting scratches on the tint from the liner at the bottom of the window

The other thing to watch for is the little defroster bubbles around the windows. Most tint shops will just apply the film on top leaving you with tiny air bubbles that look terrible up close. Do a search on window tint in this forum and you'll find some useful information on how to cut down on it prior to applying the tint (thanks to Danny ).

i wonder if that thread got lost with that crash??? hmm... not sure... my guess is that it is still around...

oh, and those air bubbles are from those black dots on the edge of the window, not really from the defroster lines...
