What's needed for a softer ride?

I've had my CLK320 for a couple of months now and really enjoy it.

The thing is, compared to the 00' E320 my parents own, its like I can feel every bump in the road. Now, keeping in mind I'm no mechanic, what would I need to do to get a smooth ride?

Do I need new shocks? Do I need to modify the suspension?

My brother mentioned the other day that he felt it was a rough ride (he drives an E320 wagon), and in even in comparison to my old C230, I'd say it is.

Is this normal?

Thanks,
Chris

Since the CLK is off a different chasis than the W210 Eclass & its also a lighter vehicle, the ride chracteristics can be different...

If you have 17" wheels, switching to 16" wheel would improve the comfort level... but if its STOCK, then it should already have 16" wheels...

you can try opting for thicker spring pads, which will absorb some more shock from road imperfections...

or... junk the suspension and get an air-ride system...

Any recommendations on what spring pads to get?

Any idea on the cost to install?

Are there any other moderately-priced things I can do to get a softer ride?

Thanks,
Chris

spring pads only cost about $6 each from the dealer...

I don't know which ones you have since each vehicle is produced with different pads based on the options you selected...

I have #3 pads in front, #4 in the rear from factory... you can get as high as #5 pads, which are the thickest ones...

check your lower control ball joints to see how they are and also have your steering wheel shock absorber checked out. Mines were faulty so my ride was very harsh and all of it was beintg input into the cabin.
