2005 SL500

Transmission Conducter Plate

Was told my "conductor plate" was in need of replacement... Anybody have any idea what that is and it's function? It is leaking and the dealer tells me it WILL cause the trans. to "go up" if not repaired. Like a $500 repair.... Any feedback is always appreciated..
