Thumbs up just curious

Hey everyone, I'm new to this board. I just got myself a 2000 CLK 430 and I was wondering how it would do up against a GS430, a 540i and an STS in a street race. And I was wondering if there are any tiny mods that I can do to enhance HP besides using NOS. I'm looking to spend no more than 500 bucks.
thanks
ps- I totally smoked an Audi A6 2.7t in the rain LOL

CLK 500
you can get an upsolute chip for like $400. also, you can change out your stock air filter to a K&N or ITG filter. this will give you a nice gain for under $500.

Cool, how does the chip install? Do I have to send out the factory computer chipset? Will a catback exhaust help much out? What exhaust are good these days for the CLK? What tires originally come on the 2000 CLK 430. Some said Michelin Pilots and some said bridgestones. I have bridgstones now and they are the noisiest set of tires I've ever had. Also, which tranmission mode is better for gas mileage, the "W" or the "S" button?
Thanks for the help

Most likely finish would be:

1. STS
2. 540I
3. GS430
4. CLK 430

For the chip you can go to http://www.upsolute.com
and find out more about how they do it.
it won't violate the MB warranty since all they touch is the ECU. plus, you can keep upgrading the s/w when they make changes for your car.
Exhaust won't do much... 2-3 HP gain, mainly it's just for sound. not worth the $600 unless you'll get a dual tip exhaust.

Driving in W mode the car takes off in secong gear, comes in handy for foul weather days.
