Rear bumper removal CLK430

I've looked for a rear bumper removal thread on here, but the How-To doesn't have it, and all of the explanations I've found were sort of hard to follow. Does anybody have a how-to or walkthrough on how to remove the rear bumper on a 2000 CLK430?

I would think that the rear bumper is the same across the range.

For my CLK 230K the procedure is :

- Remove bottom plastic trim, there are about 10 small rectangles that you pop up with a small flat head screwdriver.
- Undo nuts that hold bumper on (I think there are 3 )
- Pull back the side trim and undo nuts on each side that are facing up.
- Remove small hex bolt on bumper corner, outside of car under each wheel arch.
- Pull bumper off toward the rear direction
Should take about 20 mins.

A1EK is correct.

To add -
Pull off the bumper very gently just to make sure you dont drop it, its' weight balance is a little weird.

Also, if your car has the factory phone, you'll need to disconnect the phone cable from the trunk and pull it out with the bumper because it's housed in the rear bumper.

There was a rivet on the bottom left side of my bumper in the wheel arch underneath the 8mm nut that holds the bumper to the fender.

The two nuts on both sides of the trunk are 10mm; the three washer nuts underneath the trunk lock on the rear of the bumper are 8mm.

I would take off the 2 small screws at the wheel well first....easy to snap them off if you remove all the other bumper bolts...but these directions are just right...very easy to do.
