Reinstalling Stock 2000 W208 CLK 430 Radio From Aftermarket Radio
Hey guys,
I bought a 2000 CLK 430 a while back and it came with an aftermarket radio. Everytime I turn my car off the radio restarts as if it is new again. I found a stock radio and navigation system that is popular in the CLK 550 that came from an old 2000 W208. I was wondering how easy it would be to reinstall this stock radio and get rid of the aftermarket one.

Yes sir! You are correct. Usually what wires are changed when replacing the stock radio with an aftermarket radio? And do you guys think this radio is worth the trouble of reinstalling? Really just wanted it for navi and the classic look.

Some information on what wires that could be changed and to change back is located on the following site

I wouldn't think the old system is worth the effort (old navigation, no Bluetooth, or direct use of your phone/mp3 player except through an Aux hookup).
The look is up to your preference and taste.

id go with any one of the touch screen double dins available... it would be an easy install from your other aftermarket... as for the radio resetting it sounds like the installer didnt hook up the b+12v (memory usually a yellow wire on the aftermarket) to a power that is always energized... lots of people just tie that in with the b+12v switched (red) wire and call it a day... check that and you may have an easy fix

Hi all,
Time for a short update on my aftermarket radio.
6 months after installation and I have absolutely no complaints about reliability (I had my MOST audio connection come adrift and had to pull the unit to reseat), and am in the process of adding a reversing camera and external microphone as my car doesn’t appear to have a built in mic, and the mic on the unit although effective, makes you sound funny.

Hi, thanks for all your posts and info .... despite local installers discouraging comments, I am reassured by your experience. I believe in an earlier you post you mentioned this unit was made by Kunfine ... would you mind sharing a link to them..... I cannot find them via google .... or would the one from SEICANE be just as good ?

So a related question.
I have a 2003 CLK Cabriolet, so its a W208. It has the stock factory FM-AM-Cassette radio with the optional 6 disc changer in the boot. If I were to acquire a unit like The original poster installed in his CLK would I require any thing additional or is everything that makes the unit work incorporated into the unit, i.e., is it plug-and-play?

The aftermarket installation is for a w209, the eBay picture is for a early Mercedes Command system. The Command system is plug and play except you will not have steering wheel controls unless you buy the adapter. In addition without a update I by Star you won't see the radio in the digital display.
The aftermarket doubledin will require adapters for the Bose system if you keep the amp and speakers.
