Replace mirrors

Gents,
I am in need of instructions on how to remove the mirrors off of the side view mirror assembly so that I can put them on the new set I got off of SteveNL. I am can see how to take the full side housing assembly off of the car but how do I remove the ACTUAL mirror.

Any help would be awesome. Also, anyone know where I can find the turn signal leads in the door or do I need to run a new set off of my OEM ones?

Thanks in advance...

Come on, does no one know how to pull the stock mirrors apart so I can take the actual mirrors off?

Did you get the electric folding mirrors? That's on my list for my CLK as well...

search the forum...

I've posted DIY instructions on how to remove the lights to install clear side signals... those instructions should be qualified enough to help you change the actual mirror too...

I actually did a search and managed to get the lights out and changed, didnt see much for getting the mirror out, but I am pretty mechanical myself, so hopefully I will figure it out.

Tilt mirror full down....you'll see a wire-spring retainer clip....remove it and pull the glass off.

Fold the Mirror Back..... Using a Flat Blade screw driver pry the Metal clip open (its on the outer edge of the mirror) to release the mirror cover. Slide the cover off
Then remove the three screws for the mirror base..unplug the mirror ..thats it

Well, a few days ago I was driving down the street, looked in my driver's side rear view and it was jiggling. All I have to say is -
Mr. Cummins, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
6 years later, this thread is still here and the link to you tube you posted was the fix to my problem, or lead to the fix to my problem.
After getting my mirror cover off, I was able to see that the spring came un-attached at the inner most point. After finagling with my needle nose for a minute I was able to re-attach it and slide the mirror cover back on. Viola! Problem solved. No more rear view flapping in the wind. Thanks fellas.
