Substitute Break Light
Husband recently replaced a break light on our car. A message is coming up saying 'Substitute break light is on' and my break lights are permanently on when the car is on. Anyone have an idea on how to handle it? Thank you in advance.

First thing to check is that he used the correct bulb.
The correct brake light bulb has offset pins that are 150 degrees apart (not 180 degrees), as well as being at different heights.
If a garden variety brake light bulb, as sold by many auto supply stores, was installed, the contact pins are not properly aligned. Additionally, force fitting the wrong bulb may also damage the bulb's socket.
