With install, the price ran about ~$2800 (including dedicated nav-speakers concealed under the dash).

There are a couple of different Alpine monitors- I chose mine because I can change to an Alpine changer down the road (or other AV devices), and it only takes up a single slot. They also have an in-dash monitor-only setup for much less green, but it takes up 2 slots and is smaller.

one thing does the music turn down when the navi voice directs you...one of the reason I didnt go that route is because of that.

beautiful setup by the way:thumbsup:

With the alpine underneath, and the factory on top, when the unit is flipped open, you wouldn't be able to access the factory stereo is probably why the went the route they did.

lou430: No muting with this setup. The nav runs off of its own speakers independently of the factory setup. (The 2dim screen could hook in to the factory system for muting, but I would've lost the ashtray pocket)... Thanks btw

MagmaSilk: Never brought it up- the most custom work discussed was removing the ashtray pocket for a 2dim screen, and creating a new power outlet in the center console. The labor on that would've ran about $400 more in labor, so I can't imagine the labor on moving the climate control.

Axtell: Exactly- I requested they do it that way so I could still use the factory controls.

clkal: Many thanks-

dont worry about moving the climate control I tried it already and it to narrow for the alpine headunit. In order for it to fit you will need to cut whatever is back there to make it more deep...I dont think its necessary

I like it the way it is nice

wow that looks really nice. I am very interested in getting the nav system install. You said it ran you $2800 for a whole set up??WOW!! I see that you live in Washington D.C. Where did you get your nav/alpine installed/purchased from?? Do you have their telephone #???? I went to Myeremco in Bethesda for a nav system from alpine and the guy told me it will cost me over $5000!!!!!in labor/parts. Where is your GPS antenna mounted?? Thanks.

W208TC:
I went to the Myer Emco in Bailey's Crossroads. The guy I worked with is Jeff (this is who you should speak with), who actually has a benz and used to be an MB service advisor at HBL.

Their number is (703) 379-8800. I'm very satisfied with their service. The GPS antenna is black and sits on the trunk (its hard to notice on my black clk). Feel free to mention my name (Chris S.) as the referrer when you speak with them.

fstrd1: many thanks-
