windshield advice...

I just got my first crack on my windshield

My deductible is $500 so it looks like I’m going to just pay out of pocket. OEM Glass from dealer is $380 with rain sensor. Installation price from a local place I found was $190.

My questions are..

Is this a good price for the install?

Anyone changed their windshield before? If so any advice..

How are the Aftermarket OEM compared to Dealer OEM?

Any recommendations for shops in the Bay Area preferably East Bay Area?

Any input is appreciated.

Sorry to hear about the window. I prefer to use OEM glass and not "OEM Quality". If you do go aftermarket glass, make sure it is PPG and not Safelite. If you go to the dealer, ask the dealer if they install it themselves or if they sub it out. Soemtimes the lowest price is not the best deal when it comes to window replacement.

The dealer usually have a glass shop to do all the windshield replacements for them. From what I remember, OEM w/ rain sensor should be around 500 installed, and aftermarket w/ rain sensor should be 400 installed. So you should call more shops to get the best price. Good luck.
