Question How long for a collision repair?

OK, let me describe the accident :

1. Rear end collision. The entire bumper, trunk lid and elbows, destroyed.
2. Exhaust system totaled (shoved at 90 degree angle under car, manifold bolts bent.
3. The flooring in the spare wheel compartment crumpled but no damage to spare tire.
4. Left tail light assembly destroyed.
5. Front bumper (AMG kit) destroyed. Head lights and hood OK.
6. Rear fender bent from impact.
7. TOTAL: $18K in damage.

The guy got a $150 ticket for following too close, totaled his car, and paid for my rental.

I have had it at the body shop for 2months now...IS THIS RIGHT or am GETTING RIPPED OFF?

Someone hit my front quarter panel and my car was in the shop for 6 weeks.
I needed a new panel, a new wheel and a paint job. $2400 total damages and about 2-3 weeks of the total 6 weeks was just for them to find and replace a wheel from Tirerack.
2 months seems about right, even though you know the shop is soaking the insurance company. The squeeky wheel gets the oil so call every day and stop in to see the progress. If you think it's taking too long call the other guy's insurance company because they are paying for your rental car. Also, don't settle for a crappy rental car. You lost a MB, so make them take care of you.

depends if the bodyshop have the needed parts

if they have to order them from other places or germany, it will take longer.

my shop could not even start on the car till the parts came in from germany.

I feel for you,,, 2 months sounds about right better inspect it very very thoroughly when you DO finally get it back--took almost two months on my car, with *only* 7K worth of damage, and I noticed misalignments after I spent like 45 minutes inspecting it...

good luck to you

Thanks. For all the bit**in and moaning about MBs lately, no one has talked anything about safety...I only had a sore neck. The collision was about 30mph, no airbag, and I was at a complete stop. The car bolted forward, but was solid.

CLKAL, I agree with you on all counts regarding your bumpers and skirts...customer service wins over customers--right or wrong.
