ESP Error See Shop
My CLK 320 Displayed above message and the car was then paralyzed. I could not shift gear without using mechanical release.
I ask about replacement $2000k thru the dealer. I was able to get a module from Ebay site with module being tested. Once arrived i am told it does not take car information. I have triple checked the module part # and reputation of Ebay seller.
I am unsure if our local dealership can not do it even if it were a new unit since it is likely this has not been dealt with in the past on a 2002 CLK 320 Cabriolet.
I do not want to put too much money in the car since it is old and with over 112000 miles.
Any thoughts or option ideas?

Did you try the brake switch? Like Chadzu mentioned cheap part ($10 - $20) known to fail and paralyze your car.
