2002 CLK 430 Navigation
I just bought a 2002 CLK 430 and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to how difficult and expensive it would be to replace the current stereo with the factory one with navigation. Is the car pre-wired for navigation, etc., etc.?
Thanks for any help you can offer and I look forward to chatting with you all in the future.
Joey

COMAND retrofit
Do a search for 'COMAND retrofit'. Browse the Audio and Electronics forum. I saw one being sold in the Classifieds forum. And lastly, you can ask Steve if he has one available.
In summary, it's not that complicated to install if your'e into taking things apart. Basically pull out your radio with the radio keys, cut the plastic thing in the middle that separates the radio and the sunglass holder/slot. The COMAND will plug in with the wires from the radio except for the GPS antenna. I heard that you can place a minature antenna within the dashboard. The more difficult way is to wire the antenna from where the head unit is, down to the passenger floor, through the side sills, to behind your rear seat (this was tedious work) and this is the route I took. Good luck with it and pm/email me if you have more questions. I'd be glad to help.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I have the instructions so hopefully I can get the guys at MB to do it for me since it's too new for me to start playing with.
Originally the parts guy and the service mgr. said it couldn't be done but hopefully now that I have the instructions they will do it.
Thanks again!

I'm not sure if the MB Service department would be willing to do something that's not in their books of "allowable and available service" unless you have a good relationship with them. If you run into trouble, you can always go to a good audio installation shop. Good luck.

He sells the units and the self install kits.
