Question CLK 320 Engine

My CLK sometimes rocks (or vibrate) very slightly side to side when it is at standstill in neutral or D, and the any ideas
why it is happening or fixes? The rev counter also slightly moves up and down. There are no problems with anything else. It is more of an annoying thing that a major issue.

Any help appeciated

Nick

That's normal, no fix for that.

I don't know what causes it, I think its just a characteristic trait of the V6 engine. Most of them have a slight rock at idle.

Maybe I just don't notice it..

But I don't feel a rock.

You probably don't feel it, but when the engine is fully warmed, open the hood and watch it idle. Most likely you'll see a "twitch"

Hey Dave,
With regard to the clk 320 idle characteristic mentioned above, is the software fix you mentioned for the 430 rough idle apply for thesix cylider version?

Pretty sure it has to do with the mass air sensor. My 430 used to be really twitchy at idle on hot days like that, but when I replaced the grille on the air intake (after the airbox) it went away (I'd removed it previously).

hello guys...

i'd like to say that when i got my 320, it was pretty smooth when standstill ( i know cause i'm very aware of these things ) after about 40K, i noticed the same thing... a slight bumpy motion when at the lights ( especially when warm).

Took it to the dealer... they replaced my belt tensioner and it's gone!

just thought you guys should know!

Unhappy

Mine started rocking at about 12k miles. But I've also realized that my car is a lot faster now.
