Mercedes CLK320 A208 soft top problem
Hi, I recently bought an old 2001 CLK320 convertible with roof problem. I opened it and found relay by the pump gone so I replaced it. When unlock the roof all windowses goes down, the cover where the roof sits under, I don't know how you call it, anyway it also does lift up and that's it roof won't open, goes in emergency mode. If I help it with hand pushing it before it gets in emergency, it will open, but ones fully open, the same cover that goes on top of it won't close. I need to close it manually by pressing it down and push it hard to lock. However in the other way, while closing it all work perfect with no problem and same this cover opens and closes by itself, also the roof get closed by itself with no help. Any ideas what could it be and what to check. I did find 2 of the metal wires across the soft roof broken. One I fix on its place the other I still haven't. If this gonna help.
Thank you.
PS: The pump oil level is good and pump visually in good condition, all lifting ang moving parts for the roof has been greased.
Thank you.

When opening the roof, those 2 metal wires are tension cables, that open the folding joints on the power roof's framework, after you manually unlock the front bow. If the frame joints do not open up, the lift cylinders will not be able to unfold the roof and further operation of the system stalls.
You need to repair both of the tension cables.
You're able to close the power roof OK, because the frame joints don't close again until your manually lock down the front bow.
See post #173 at https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...ailures-7.html for further details.

Delete the hydraulics?
I'm having problems with the soft top on my '03 430 Cab. and quite frankly, would rather just delete the system and just raise lower the top manually. Are there any online guides for this?

The procedure for both opening and closing your roof manually are covered, in detail, in your owner's manual.

The electric solenoid in the door latch mechanism may have failed. I had this happen on my 2004 Land Rover discovery it was an easy fix once I got inside the door, I had to buy a replacement solenoid
