I see those things quite often here, in Bay Area.
I'm pretty sure they don't have cameras. It is kinda warning for you, that tells you "Next time you'll be busted".
I just ignore them.

Most likely it doesn't have a camera. Those are setup for cops to review the data stored inside to see if it's a potential speeding area and if more patrols are needed :x

we have ones that are amber digits then if you are over the limit, they change to red to tell you your over the damn limit :p

sometimes there are cops sitting behind it but usually just on a road side to see how many speed in a period of a day.

Lucky for me we do not have that kind of technology here yet, but I agree with BLACK2001CLK I think they are set up for warnings only why dont you call the police department and just play innocent and ask them what those things are and what purpose they serve I am sure they will tell you.

thanks guys, seems like i have nothing to be worrying about. but with the luck ive had, i dunno.

i got two no front plate tickets and today i went to get them signed off. the cop signed it off, but then asked me to roll up my windows, i have tint all around. he gave me back my two no front plate tickets and signed both off, then gave me another ticket for my window tint. sigh

yes yes... most likely its not a camera... but, i wouldn't be surprised if they start using that... it would totally make sense...

did you notice if its a FLASH, or just a blinking light... some have those blinking lights like those road construction signs...

if it was a systematic flashing, it may be nothing... may just be a flashing light to make you more aware of the sensor

if it was a synchronized flash JUST FOR YOU... then... hmm... it warrants investigation... just park next to it, and look for a camera...

I've seen those everywhere... but not flashing lights. Like someone said.. it displays your speed and if your in the legal limit.. the numbers are in yellow... but if you go over.. the numbers are red. I ignore it also... sometimes.. i speed and slow down on purpose to change the lights from yellow to red and vise versa.... HAHA.

Just pull over.. walk up to it.. and check it out.. bring your toolbox or something... you may need to take off some plates to get inside of it to check it out. ohhh.. .and takes pics of the internals to post up too...

how about you just take the freaking machine home...

95% of them are portable anyways... hook it up to your truck/SUV and tow it home, or pop it in your truck bed...

that way, you can inspect it at home in privacy & u'd save the peeps with radar detectors the aggrevation of having it go off when passing by
