Using parking brakes on your CLK

I have always used the parking brake in the previous cars I have owned, most recently a BMW coupe. However with the akward position of the parking brake in my clk 430, I was wondering how many of you or how important it is to use it. Keep in mind my last car was a stick, so pretty necessary. Just wondering because I know using the parking brake helps prevent transmission damage.

i usually only use the parking brakes when i'm parked in an area where there is about a 5 degree slope or so... if you use it a few times, it will become habitual... so don't worry about it...

otherwise, no sense in really using the parking brakes for flat parking spots...

My last car was a c240 w/a stick shift so I had to used the parking brake alot as well. One time though I had forgot to use the parking brake and the car did not budge, Of course I was on a flat surface. I agree with the 430 you should not have to use the parking brake unless you are parked on a 5+ degree slope .

I am originally from Houston and I see no need why you would need to use the parking brake with your 430, unless if you are visiting Austin or someplaces in Dallas where there are actual hills

Always use the parking brake. MB trannies are so sensitive that who needs any extra strain on an already lacking transmission. Do you really want 4klbs resting on a single notched gear? I know I don't.

It is always good practice to use the PB. Just my thought.

I agree, always use it, it's a good habit to get into.
