2001 CLK-430 Black
Vibration at around 2100RPM
I remember reading a post somewhere on the forums that people have had issues with the Cat cover vibrating.
I have a 2001 CLK-430 17k miles and the other night I noticed a vibration that only occurs around 2100 RPM. It sounds like an exhaust or metal cover of some sort vibrating.
Has anyone else heard this kind of problem? I want to narrow it down as best I can before I go to MB Dealer this week.
Thanks in advance
RK

I had that problem once but it went away by itself.
For me, the car was sitting in my garage for a month at a time and only took short trips. That might have caused some mechenical that sat on one particular position for a long time creating that vibration on certain RMP; mine happend around 2800.
The problem went away when I got rid of my other car and used my CLK as all day car. I guess it just needed some workout to smooth things out.
I think you might be having a similar problem since you only have 17K miles on your car. That's seems like you didn't drive it much for the past 3 years; you should have around 30K by now.

I had the same problem a while ago. It turned out to be a loose heat shield that was rubbing up against the cat coverter. It was covered under the emmissions warranty. Even though the cat wasn't bad, they replaced the cat converter just in case.
Mine would happen at exactly 2000 rpm's.
