Steering wheel replacement help needed

Hi all, I am replacing the steering wheel in my 2000 CLK55 but am having problems undoing the airbag recessed screws. The guides I've found all state that it requires a T30 torx bit to do this. I'm using a T30 allen key which reaches all the way to the screw however it won't seat properly and grab the screw so I can't undo. I'm convinced it must be a different size torx bit I need. Can anyone advise?

It could your tool not thin enough to go in the hole deep enough to grab the screw ?

Think it's a T27 I need but thanks for the replies. I'm using an allen key but it has a torx bit on the end.
