W208 Cabrio Window failed to Lower 10mm
Long time lurker - first time poster.
I have had my CLK for just under 12 months and im still trying to resolve all the kinks and odditys with it.
The weirdest one for me was the passenger window fails to lower when opening the door, Whilst the drivers side did.
Symptoms:
1. Window fails to open when door opened, but otherwise functions correctly.
2. Door left open Central locking auto locked car after the set period
3. Electric seat failed to move forward to allow access to rear seat with door open.
Your symptoms may differ - but these are ones on my problem list that have vanished since fixing the window.
I had changed everything associated with the window and it turns out the fix was rather simplistic.
The part required is 168 820 19 10 and costs £5.94 From the dealers.
Tools Used:
1. Flat headed screwdriver
2. Pair of pliers
3. Patience
The affected switch is in the door pillar and looks like this:
Mine looked a little sorry for itself:
The removal process is really easy.
The switch is removed from the front and the WHITE retaining clip is moved out of the way using the screwdriver and the pliers slowly pull the switch clear.
Take your time as there is just enough room to get the switch clear and then gently pull so that you can access the plug.
The plug is keyed and as such will only fit in one way on the new switch.
TEST SWITCH NOW.
As soon as the new switch is connected the door window should drop about 10mm. Depress the switch and it should raise up again. Once confident that the window is functioning.... Insert the new switch into the door pillar.
I hoope this helps someone as this window not dropping was bugging me big time.
