Axxess ASWC-1 wiring question

On the steering wheel interface... Axxess ASWC-1. My pins don't look like the picture supplied... It says to wire Pink on the harness to pin1 on the vehicle, and blue/pink on the harness to pin2. But, there are 2 black wires running in to one pin and 2 black/white in to the other on the car harness. It seems to me that the adaptor wires should connect to colored wires in the car harness??

Has anyone done this and could give some insight? Thanks!!

Do you have anymore details on this? I've been having major problems getting the Axxess to detect on my 2001 CLK 320 (no bose) and my Pioneer DEH-X4900BT.

The stereo works fine but the Axxess is not detecting my steering controls. It turns on but doesn't respond to my volume presses and 'times out' eventually flashing through 7 equal green blips (presumably meaning it detects none of the 7 wires), followed by 6 red blips (which is actually correct as it's a Pioneer), then alternating red and green. Manually programing attempts similarly are not being detected.

Metra support seems to think it's a matter of poor connection/ground as these Data Com cars like this apparently need good grounds for detection to work. I tried with it wired to the same ground wire as the radio in the harness and tried wiring to a screw in the metal frame of the radio but it still didn't work. There really aren't any good chassis ground options I can see in the area as it's all plastic. The connections are currently all tied as I didn't want to crimp or solder until I was sure things were working and hooked up right. This might also be a problem according to the manual as it strongly recommends soldering with Data com cars

I hope this isn't against the rules but I actually went into detail about this a while ago at another MB site...the short story is it doesn't work and I went with a Crux device which (at least at the time) was the only thing that worked. I think it was the Crux swrbm57...
