Man I am Worried.....

I put on a set of 2002 CLK 320 16" rims/tires onto my 1998 CLK 320 to replace those ugly stock 16's". Of course I was pissed that I had to go out and buy new wheel bolts because the "Stock" 1998 bolts were way to short for the new 2002 wheels. However, the spare tire had other longer bolts that I am useing for one wheel, and the new 2000 MY+ bolts on the other 3 wheels. It seemed that the spare bolts and "NEW" bolts were the same size, so I thought I was fine. The thing is though, I hear a "CLICK" every once in awhile when I take the car out of park and put it into drive. The click noise seems to come from one of the wheels. Wondering, could it be the bolts hitting the brakes??? If so what kind of damage is it causing?? How would I check? BTW, there are no brake problems or other noises coming form the car that I am aware of...... (the lower posts are what raised this concern)

Thanks

Rick

That noise is coming from the rear wheels. The lugs when used with the spare tire are too long and hit the parking brake mechanism. You need to shave down your lugs a bit in the rear so it doesn't hit - do it ASAP, you don't want to screw up your parking brakes.

EFF YOU JACKIE
Had the same problem with a set of Mille 18's that are on it. I called tirerack and got a set of bolts for like 10 bucks or something. They're good and quick.

Do it soon, I took it to the dealer for the noise, and it was one bolt hitting the mechanism. They charge me 200+ bills cause of the after market wheels.

Come to think of it, I may actually have extra ones if you need them, let me know.
