Shaking Issues

Here's the problem: my 01 w208 conv. Shakes at 35+, with a couple areas around 50 getting slightly better. I had a light highway shake with my original 16" oem wheels and 205 55 16 Goodyear rs-a around 65-70 mph. I recently changed to 18" wheels new tires, hoping that would fix the shakes. Unfortunately, that only made it worse. New hub rings and hubcentric spacers in the rear, there are now no rear shakes, but the steering wheel shows the shakes.

When stopped, I can turn the wheel and it feels like it flops over. I've read that this is the problem with the tie rod ends and center link wearing out. The car has 103k miles on it, but I wouldnt be surprised if they had worn out. The steering damper is original too. Would this cause the shaking I'm having? I have the center link and damper in my cart ready to go if I need to replace them.

Also, would larger wheels with lopro tires exacerbate these problems?

That was my guess, while your getting the rims back to normal swap out the front wheel bearings not that expensive to do, and a alignment should be ready to roll (tide) NOT!

A few weeks ago, I packed all the bearings. They seem like they're still in good shape. No odd noises or play in the hub. Will definitely get an alignment though. It's due

Yessir, glad to hear that outstanding news! Sometimes we don't like spending the money to get our rides right, but in the long term its well worth it!
