Gas Level Sensor Malfunction

I have a 2000 CLK 320. Lately, when I start the car, the gas gauge stays on empty....after about 2 mins of driving, it now goes to full even though I probably only have 3/4 of a tank left. My guess is the sensor is malfunctioning. My question is, what is the exact name of the part I need? I went to thebenzbin.com but didn't see a gas level sensor. If you have a link to a site that carries the part, the would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Check with your dealer because it might be a malfunctioning fuel sender. If that's the case, the part was recalled and it's a free fix.

i've been having the same problem on my 00' clk320. on the trip meter that tells you how many miles you can go, it was off by like 50+ miles. my car actually ran out of gas one day. does anyone know if the recall thing is true? free fix?

I also have been having this problem lately. It only happens about 20% of the time but it's kinda annoying.
