lowering springs

I just had H&R sport springs put on my 2000 clk 320 and the driver side is lower than the passenger side. Has anyone had this problem? Also the springs didn't lower the car much for $250.00.

Wait a couple of weeks for the springs to settle. A lot of people have had the same issue with the left front being lower than the right front, it's probably a characteristic of the car.

As for the amount of lowering, the whole point of H&R springs is handling performance and cosmetic lowering, while still maintaining street driveability and a comfortable ride. If you want to slam the car, you need to not only get the thinnest spring pads, but you need to look into an adjustable solution like the cup-kit, or if you value looks over handling/ride, you can always cut your springs.

H&R will lower your car around 1.5" all around, if you wanted lower, work with spring pads which will drop it an additional 8mm with each shim.

Thanks all of you.............Do I need to change my stock shocks? My car has 50k miles. I was told that aftermarket shocks will lower the car also. How can I tell what # pads came with my car?

After 50,000 miles your standard shocks probably need replacement, anyway you should change them cause after you drop the car with springs, they won't last due to the fact that they will be compressed all the time. Get Koni's or Bilstein's, and no, shocks will not lower your car, springs will.
On CLK430's standard pads usually are # 4 front and # 3 rear.

At 50k, the OEM shocks are done.

Shocks alone will do wonders for reducing wallow in transitions and will return a lot of the sharpness and stability to the suspenion.

As mentioned, springs lower the car. Choose a near stock spring rate and you will lower the car without sacrifing a tolerable ride.

You can do just shocks, or if you add springs, definitely add shocks as well.

Along with good tires, this is possibly the best $600 to $1200 you can spend on your car. Be amazed at your newfound grip and poise. Gain increased control under hard braking.

Lowering the car impacts the alignment. Be sure to get an alignment after lowering the car. Decent alignment shops will ask you what you want out of the alignment, quick turn-in, increased traction or good tire wear and long life.
