K&N Filter replacement

I would like to get instructions on how to replace the OEM air cleaer with a K&N filter. I looked under the hood of the CLK500 and I'm lost, don't know where to start. Help!

Just the filter element? Or remove the OEM intake and put a CAI in there?

1. take off airbox
2. open airbox
3. switch filters
4. replace airbox
5. done and done

Just the element, but where do I begin

the engine compartment hides everything so well that I do not see or recognize the air box. first where should i look for the box and once i locate it, are special tools required? i'm new at this. pardon my ignorance.

I'm not familiar with the car yet, but check where the red arrows are. Could be placed near front or at end of intake...

Does this car have 2 air filters? Left and right?

the 2003 CLK500 has left and right air intake ducts

but the K&N product specs state 1 element is required so i bought only 1. i'll look again under the hood. it can't be this difficult to change out the air cleaner element right?

sorry, the above pic is a 430... I just got the 2 filter idea from seeing the 2 intake tubes. Apologies.

But it looks like you would still need find where the filter is located, and expose it by removing trim.

Only hard the first time! Never again...:p

Turn it upsidedown, and there are about 10-16 torx screws. Remove these screws and the bottom of the box comes off. In a 430, 2 filters are needed, Im not sure about the 500, but I'd assume so too. Open it up first to be sure, before you buy the second one. Switch all the filter(s) and then put it all back togeteher and youre done.
