clk 230 kompressor wont crank
I recently got a clk convertible w208 230 kompressor, its a late 2003 model with very low mileage, the previous owner had it sitting on his drive for a few months and basically gave up on it after spending alot of money and car still not starting!
Its had a new starter motor new coil packs and leads and the ecu was sent off to a specialist and checked and was found to be ok no faults!
Basically you put the key in the ignition and all lights come on dash but nothing happens when you turn the key, I ruled out the selector switch as the dash displays the gear its in when going through the gears and have also checked the K40 relay and fuses in that fuse box all seem fine and the actual circuit board also looks fine no burns etc and its very clean!
I have a list of faults that the previous owner got with diagnostics but have no idea what these mean!
Would appreciate if anyone has any idea what else it could be>
Thanks

MBWorld Fanatic!
Could it be the Crank shaft position sensor?
Also, I had this issue once and found it to be a poor power connection from the battery that passes throughthe passenger foot well that had corroded. Perhaps you could try connect the battery in the engine terminals instead to rule this out?

Thanks for the reply, i have connected a booster pack to the terminals under the bonnet to give extra power but no difference and the battery in the boot is fully charged. The only reason i think its not the cps is because the fan comes on when you put ignition on which seems to indicate something else is going on and from what ive read this is usually the k40 relay fault so ive ordered another unit just to rule that out even the the unit looks fine.

Thanks for the advice cindyclk do you know where the ground for the starter or the one you are mentioning is located so I can check it? I had a quick look in the engine bay and could only see 2 and one was rusty so I undone the nut and used sand paper to clean the connection but still no difference!
