1999 CLK430 Question, anybody.

I was wonder if this will ruin my transmission. My car don't have tiptronic. However, just for curiosity sake; if i were to start my car out with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, gear at a light manually will that ruin my transmissoin? If I do this constintly. In another words if I treat it like a stick shift. Isn't the idea behind tiptronic the same concept? If it's going to ruin my transmission I won't do it.

Thanks guys.

It's not a good idea. The transmission wasn't meant to be shifted like that. Just leave it in "D", the tranny can think for itself just fine.

Yeah, you can actually shift an auto with no problems. Just be careful with it, don't redline powershift on your first try, 'cause that's definitely not good for the tranny .

Otherwise, it's a bulletproof transmisson and you have few worries.

yeah..

I don't see any problem with that as long as you use it properly, don't overdue the RPM though.

Avoid engine cut outs!!
