Whats a good price for Illuminated door sills??

A friend of mine is selling a set of Illuminated door sills and he claims they're authentic. Whats the easiest way to identify the real OEM door sills and the fake ones you find on the internet. Also whats the price for the real ones that only say Mercedes Benz in blue.

need a quick response if possible

There's not a whole lot of difference between the real ones and the replicas (except the replicas offer you a choice of tuner names besides "mercedes Benz" such as AMG, carlsson, Lorinser, etc.) Both of them are sill covers that go over your existing sills and not replacement sills. Metal quality is the same - you're not going to want to step on either set (real or replica). I have replicas with the carlsson logo, and they look great when they light up - you can see pics in my gallery

forgot to add - replicas are about $150 bucks

I got mine from Jerry at formymercedes.com

Good quality and he stands by his products.

Thanks Josh, this guy has them in stock and is selling them for $500 installed He is telling me they are authentic and they take 2 hours to install ???

is it better to do it this way or get replicas and have somebody else do it...if both will come out about the same than Ill go the easiest route.

he does have a reputable shop that only works on MB and BMW so I dont know if that is a major ripoff. I can tell you this they looked very nice compared to the stock brushed aluminum ones.

o and do the authentic ones mount on top of the stock door sills via 3M tape...I looked at them very carefully and couldnt see anything that resembled the enormous price. The wiring of the kit looked a bit complex so I didnt want to tackle it myself...it had very flat wires and a bunch of relays.

I still dont know if they are real or not, I could ask if he still has the box but would look too untrusting.

$500 installed is a rip-off. Yes they are somewhat of a pain to install but with replicas you'll get away for half that. The authentic ones and the replicas both mount using 3m tape.

I would just save the money and get the replicas. They look the same as OEM if you get them from Jerry and they're a hell of a lot cheaper.

Yup straight rip off. I bought some my self and with a quick pointer from Steve K. I had them hooked up and looking nice. Infact I bought some after market door sills to cut up instead of cutting up my OEM ones. Thanks to Steve, it works and looks great.

I dropped off my 2002 430 at the dealer today for its' A service tomorrow and I asked the guy in parts about these stock illuminated sills. He said only one person that he remembered got them done and it was over $3000. He said labor would be over $500. I have a hard time believing the parts cost $2500. I told him not to bother looking them up but maybe when I go back to get my car I'll have him do just that.

$3000? HAHAHAHAHA well I guess if one is stupid enough to pay they should be parted from their money.

Parts are under $200, and install only takes an hour.
