Fortunately, the roll-bar operation only involves a few components (e.g. 2 limit switches, 1 hydraulic cylinder and a small valve block).
Since MB does not sell replacement roll-bar components, for the A208, the same limit switches are inexpensively available as an SL part and the hydraulics can be inexpensively rebuilt by Top Hydraulics https://www.tophydraulicsinc.com/en/...benz-a208-info .
I believe they are the same for all CLK Convertibles for 2001-2003.

Beginning with MY 2001, there were a number of up grades affecting the power roof, which included the controller, hydraulic pump, soft top cover lock/unlock etc.
As example, the pump's valve block on earlier models used 7 solenoids, with 9 wired connections to the controller, where as of June 2001, the valve block only used 5 solenoids with 2 fewer controller connections.
Yet, web searches for the hydraulic pump for sale as, "for 1998 - 2003 CLK", with a picture having 7 solenoids.
The component upgrade dates are VIN specific, so if you don't have the part number as shown on your current controller, you can get it from EPC or a dealers parts department. The dealer's parts guy should also be able to tell you if the part is warehoused, as new and the price. If so, several of the on-line vendors can source the part directly from MB and pass along some discount.
There are some places that power roof controller rebuild/repair services, but they seem to focus on CLK roof controllers.

As long as a 'previously used' seller has the correct part number and return policy, that may be the less expensive option.
Also check with some of the larger recycle places.
