Speedometer? Is This Normal?

I noticed that upon acceleration pass 50 MPH, sometime the needle of the speedometer moves like the second hand of the watch (in 2-3 miles increment). Is this normal? Deceleration has a smooth movement.

Thank you!

Mine is in the shop getting fixed for that too...among other things.

Notice it tends to "stick/jump" between 60-80, but not all the time....

Used to be a CLK430
You would think VDO could make better quality components...

No its not.

I had the same problem about six months ago. I'm still under warranty so they replaced the instrument cluster.

Its good to know I wasn't going crazy and that this is a real problem!

It's defective. I had that problem and got a new speedo gauge replaced under warranty.

New Instrument Cluster

I went to the Mercedes Benz Service Center today. They're going to replace the instrument cluster in a few days.
