97 CLK320 Lorinser misfire problems

97 CLK320 Lorinser misfire problems
Hi, so I originally purchased this car from Japan only seeing pictures because it only has 60,000 kms on it. However when it arrived it has not been running great. Thought maybe since the car likely sat for months undriven on a shipping lot in Japan it just needed good drive with new filters, but that's not the case.
Symptoms:
1) When in drive it idles rough, but in park and reverse it idles fine. It does not want to pick up speed either.
2) The exhaust fumes out of the exhaust tip are so hot you can't keep your hand there if you leave it running for 10 mins. We thought maybe catalytic converters clogged, or possibly exhaust so we took out the o2 sensor to allow the engine to breath closer to the engine. No change.
3) Misfire codes showing on obd2 device.
Oil filter, fuel filter and air filter all changed. Fuel filter was original. Next step are spark plugs and replacing a motor mount.
My dad's a Ford diesel tech so not well versed in Mercedes engines, so just looking for a bit of guidance if anyone's had this problem and fixed it themselves.
