ANY help will be great (LONG)

my 99 clk 320 convertible top was only working sometimes and others it will not work, so i go to the dealer with an appoimtment at 9 o clock this morning. and the service rep. i met with gave me really bad vibes with his arrogance. and fake attitude right from the gate. so at 4 oclock i call him and get his assistant who tells me hes busy and he will call me. so after 5 no call yet so i show up at the dealer, he states hes been very busy and he will go and check on my car. im the only customer in the service dept. odd because he told me how busy he was.. so he comes back and seems really nervous and says that my pump may have overheated and a thermocoupler may have gone bad and how its tough to check this out. im thinking the car got there at 9 oclock this morning and hes just working on it now. the tech walks out and hands me the same line of b.s. and says hes been working on it for an hour and he needs more time. so im asking questions like if the thermo coupler is bad then why does it work intermittantly, and if the motor is shot than why does it work sometimes also. he mumbles something about well it could be a relay in the motor. and thats why. so then he proceeds to tell me the last guy paid him 3000 to get it working and for me to get prepared for that amount and tries to make another appointment ,blah blah blah. im no rocket scientist but if this dealer had this car all day and still cant tell me whats wrong then im not wasting any more time or money with these guys. what are they thinking, hesaid sometimes they can reset the brain by disconnecting the pump and plugging it back in blah blah blah. i saw someone mentioned here how to reset the computer . will this help??? HELP!!!

how well do you know your salesperson? did you buy the car there? when weve had problems with our cars and the service department, weve had good luck going back to our salesperson and letting him know the problem. wanting to sell more cars to you, he can usually get things done. may be different since we own a lot of mercedes and our salesperson is one of the best in the country for mercedes. just a thought though.

youre the only one that is offended,

and "go blow me"? thats fairly offensive in itself....its a safe bet to say im at least a bit younger than you, and its sad how clear it is that youre the one with the growing up to do...

this is a CLK forum, if youre too busy looking to get offended to add to discussion, might i suggest hauling yourself over to the off-topic forum perminantly....you already seem to stir up enough disagreement over their anyway, which seems to be your objective as of late. remember when you used to just talk about cars? yeah that was much more enjoyable for everyone

my heart doesnt ache, im not searching for reasons to feel sorry for myself...grow up please

JOHNNYRENO,

You need to find a dealer you can trust. What part of California are you wanting to locate a dealer in?

Try using.....

www.mbusa.com

and click on dealer locator.

Good luck

im in reno nv. but i go to the bay area and vegas often. and i am not trying to get out of paying my bill i just want my drop top to work all the time. like it should this dealer had my car all day and still cant get an answer. besides it may be 2 or 3 thousand bucks by the time we are done (what a scheister) with no explanation or answer on whats wrong how can you even give a price is way beyond me!!!.,,, as for the gentleman who claims to be offended by my last post i would suggest anger management class, you wont find an argument here so please discontinue the attempt to stir up stuff on this forum i merely came to this forum for a little help and encouragement. jeeshh.
P.S. THIS FORUM IS GREAT. THANKS

have you considered going somewhere to a specialized mechanic outside the stealership? i know, at least in this area, there are plenty of highly qualified mechanics that dont want to deal with the garbage at the dealership and own their own shop. i dont believe theres any doubt that the place to pay the most money is the dealership, and ive found that they dont even always know what they are doing. my car is under warranty for just a bit longer, but once the warranty runs out, it will never go back to the stealership for service ever, because of the exact same problems you are experiencing.
