Tires vs rims
Thanks for adding me.
I have recently purchased a 2001 CLK430. It has AMG 17 inch rims front and rear. I purchased two NEW Cooper brand P245/40R-17 tires for the rear. I did not notice on the door tag until after I bought the tires that it specifies to use Bridgestone, Continental or Michelen brand named tires.
Upon driving g off from the tire place, the speedometer went to zero and I have two service lights coming on. Can anyone tell me if it is the tires or do I need to have the lights checked out?
PLEASE NOTE, that BEFORE I had the tires put on, I did not have any problems with service lights.
THANKS, IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!!!!

An important issue in the selection of tires, is not so much brand, but to make sure that changes affecting the rolling circumference of the new set up, is not more than a percent or so, different than the OE factory wheel and tire size set up, on both axles.
Reason being, there are various vehicle sensors that provide important inputs to numerous vehicle computers (e.g. transmission, braking, cruise control, electronic stability / traction control programing, not to mention your speed sensitive power steering, radio volume, speedometer/mileage etc.).
As exampe https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...p-problem.html
