New to the CLK Crowd: My $850 CLK55
Hey guys, I've been pretty active over on the W211 AMG forums for the past few years, modding and racing my E55 whenever possible. It's gotten to the point where I don't want to make it any faster as it's my daily and I really don't want to put a rollbar in it. So.... I started shopping around for a W208 CLK to use as a blank slate to build a street-legal race car. I came across a deal too good to pass up, so now I'm the proud owner of a 2002 CLK55!
Even though this is my first post in the W208 section I HAVE been doing tons of research. Many thanks to blackbenzz, GatorMB, 2PRECISE and others for the knowledge you have shared. You guys have given me a good foundation of knowledge for the platform, whether you realize it or not!
The car may be ugly, but it's perfect for what I have in store for it. It was one day away from going to the junkyard because it had an "unknown electrical problem" and wouldn't start. It was parked on the street and the owner was getting parking tickets and just wanted to get rid of it, so I managed to pick it up for $850! The electrical problem turned out to be an almost dead battery, but the trunk wouldn't open so the PO couldn't swap batteries. I had it towed from LA to Portland and had the trunk open in about 5 minutes using nothing more than a little WD-40 and the key. :-)
Enough jabbering, here are some pics:

850???? what a smoking deal! How did you hear about the car being for sale, so far away from your location? The wheels are cool looking too. Congrats on the score!
