trunk lid flashing green light

What's the meaning of the flashing green light on the inside of the trunk lid located to the right of the the latch?

jim9....good question, the flashing green you saw when you opened your trunk, is the 'emergency' trunk lock release switch, that MB added to later production W208s, but was not covered in owner's manuals.

By design, the switch has a small built in LED lamp, that only requires a few milliamps of current and flashes when the trunk is closed and locked as well, as an aid locating it.

My trunk light works, but just barely, its yellow, it is dark!
Trying to find an LED bulb for it now....

Used this 1W bulb (6411 festoon type).
Works well and super bright.
