Securing soft top

hello again...just got this CLK as a gift. Need help with the top....put it up and down a few times, no issues...the last time I put the top up..as it neared the end of the “cycle” the motor securing the ”hook” center latch..as it finished it slowed considerably almost to a grinding...it latched and locked...I’ve left it up..accidentally hit roll bar button while detailing....again they went up no issues...but going down, same thing...slowing almost to a grind ....I’ve checked the trunk for fluid..nothing...does the same motor engage both locking mechs?. Any other clk owners have this happen? I have no clue even where to start on this....please advise.

Yes, both the power roof and roll bar, use the same hydraulic pump/motor assembly.

Lets start by confirming that your CLK 320 is a W208 model and not a W209.

Your model year is 2003, or lower and the front bow latch, that secures the roof to the windshield, has a handle that must be turned manually?
