Out Of Control!!
Not a thing, but most folks who do not know their cars systems or have the diagnostics forget the basics like key fob batteries.
In any event the convenience features electrical system is complicated at most and if you do not have the diagnostics to quickly determine the faults, I do't know where you would start to find the fault. Get a wiring diagram and start testing!

When you disconnect the vehicle power, you just reboot the power roof system, which will temporally ignore any prior power roof faults.
At first glace, sounds like your vehicle electrical system is not providing the necessary power (e.g. 11 - 14 volts), that's required for you power roof to operate normally

I have a battery conditioner that I leave connected but that makes no difference if I use the car everyday it is fine but leave it for a while and the fault returns . The battery is good and the running charge is good . Is there anothery battery in the contoller as running the car after battery reset seems to solve it for a while ? Thanks all hellp is appreciated .

The only other battery is a small rechargeable one, in the anti-theft-alarm siren.
Enclosed is a document that explains the operation of the power windows in the A208 cabriolet.
When you unlatch the front bow, a position/limit switch, located in the upper windshield, is actuated, which tells the power roof controller, to lower the front and rear windows. The front window motors are controlled by the N69 door control modules and the rear windows motors are controlled by N52 power roof controller. The necessary communication to accomplish this, is via the interior CANBus, which is a digital network of controller modules.
When the vehicle is turned off, the CANBus remains on. This is in order for the vehicle to be able to respond to control modules on the network, such as the central locking system, anti-theft-alarm. If there is a glitch in the digital signaling, other controller on the network may not operate correctly.
Disconnecting/reconnecting the main vehicle will reboot the CANBus. If the glitch was a one-off occurrence, no further action will be necessary. However, if the glitch reappears, it will be necessary to diagnose and repair the cause, which could be a misbehaving controller on the network, a wiring issue etc..
