Replacing fan clutch/water pump question
Hi,
I'm overhauling the cooling system on my dad's CLK430 at 167K miles.
To remove the fan/clutch from the water pump, which way should I be spinning the 36 mm nut with the thin/flat wrench? If I'm standing in front of the car, should it be counterclockwise (to my left) or clockwise (to my right)?
Thanks for any guidance!

Thanks. So if I'm standing in front of the car, I would turn the 36 mm nut counterclockwise to loosen.
I ordered this set from Amazon - hopefully it's of reasonable quality:

Thanks Plutoe. A shop I spoke with last week said the 36" nut was reverse threaded (which to me means one would turn it clockwise to loosen it) but a couple of videos I had watched showed the nut coming off by spinning it to the left (counterclockwise), the conventional way (right-hand thread). That's why I wanted to confirm.
The tool set has arrived and i will attempt taking the fan/clutch off later today. I might douse it with PB Blaster first and let it sit for an hour, in case that's the original nut and it's frozen on there.
