The Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) control system pressure sensor detects pressure in the purge line. The sensor output voltage to the Engine Control Module (ECM) increases as pressure increases. The EVAP control system pressure sensor is not used to control the engine system. It is used only for on board diagnosis.
The P0450 malfunction occurs when an improper voltage signal is sent from the Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) control system pressure sensor to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The sensor detects pressure in the purge line and it's output voltage increases as the pressure increases.
However, the EVAP control system pressure sensor is not used to control the engine system (e.g. is used only for on-board emissions diagnostics).
I've included a diagram of the W208 fuel system that describes how the EVAP system works.
AWESOME!! And Thanks! I kinda figured that it was in the filter as I had changed that and the fuel pump out already. I checked for vacuum leaks and had none. I am pretty sure I have an issue with the Purge Valve Solenoid/control.
Thanks agin for the diagram.
I fixed the issue with the CEL with P0450 on my 1999 CLK320. You need to change the right fuel level sensor.and it's located inside the gas tank. After changing it out, I was able to passed the California smog check after driving 200 miles.
