fluctuating lights

Hello all, this is my first post but I've been reading the forum since I bought the CLK 320,
Well anyway, here is my issue. The lights all seem to be varying in brightness, not a lot, barely noticeable but definitely doing it. I can see it in the display panel on the dash and the tail lights, mostly at idle, also the idle rpm varies from 685 to 708 don't know if these can be related or not. Any guidance as to where to begin looking will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

New info. Checked alternator with voltmeter at battery, voltage was all over the place, likely the regulator. the next there was no charging at all, am in the process of replacing the alternator.

Could just be worn out brushes, that are located inside the voltage regulator, which is a replacement part, that bolts onto the rear of the alternator.

During production, the W208 used both Bosch and Valeo alternators. The Bosch voltage regulator is only around $20 and the Valeo is around $80.

Thanks for the tip, but the alternator is only a month old and the replacement is under warranty,

Thanks again.
