Overhead Sliding Sunshade: Loose as a ...
Do any of you CLK owners find that your manually operated overhead interior sunshade slides when you accelerate and closes when you brake.
My shade was replaced. It stays closed when I accelerate now, - but when the shade id open and I brake a little determined, it slides forward.
Additionally, the new shade slides like I am running a nail over glass, and the MB mechanic added his lovely greasy fingerprints all around the edges of my light grey interior roof lining.
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated. tnx

Hi Karl,
Nope; Nothing you can really do about the sliding sunshade. From the first day of ownership, I have been able to close mine at will during heavy braking. I have yet to try opening it on acceleration as I have never driven the car with the shade closed. I have also tried this on my father's E class, and his also closes under heavy braking. It doesn't open under heavy acceleration as I don't think the six cylinder engine produces the power to do so. My good buddy/ shop foreman at my local MBZ dealer say there is no real "fix" for this condition as the unit pretty much sits in a pair of tracks with production variances in tension... You're pretty much stuck with the hand you're dealt.

Mine doesn't move at all, whether braking or accelerating. I suspect that Brian is right, production tolerance variances are the culprit. Some cars will do it, others won't.
